A Little Light Rain

180 x 180mm (18 x 18 cm)
Acrylic on Canvas Board

Although I devote some of this blog to the Twenties, a period that often had very adverse publicity, I like to show the sweetness and innocence of the period and the feminine love of fashion. F.Scott Fitzgerald spoke about "the freshness of many dresses" That love for lots of fashions was always part of womenhood and it is still there today.

Parks and delivery bicycles are so Parisian! I hope you like this belle with her little umbrella strolling outside on a wonderful crisp morning.

  1. Thank you so much for inviting me to your lovely blog! I am a teacher of American literature and one of my favorite works to is The Great Gatsby. Last year I had my students create blogs for the characters of the novel, and, when I do the same this year, I'm going to bring them all here. They will be as fascinated as I, I'm sure!

  2. OOhlala Marie ..I love your new blog ..good luck

  3. Congratualtions with your new looks very French and these elegant ladies wink at us from every corner! Looks beautiful...your "French belles by MArie Theron"!!

  4. Kathy, I am delighted with your visit. I found a wonderful blog about The Great Gatsby, so delicate and well-written and then it was discontinued in about June. I was thinking how valuable it could be to students all over the world. Maybe this was one of your pupil's work!

    And thanks for oohlala wishes.

Ronelle, thank you! I think it was you in far-off France who suggested the name "French belles". It works very well for me!

  5. A gorgeous scene Marie and oh so chic! Lovely rendition of the fashion at the time!

  6. Maree, thank you! It is great fun to try my hand at this!
